Arnoldo decided that this open kitchen doorway needed something special. He created a natural stone effect with stucco cement. This effect echoes a similar entryway around the exterior front door which Arnoldo made when he stuccoed the outside.
It is easier to see the texture on this exterior doorway trim. The same effect was used for the open doorway around the kitchen.
